Great program for preschoolers and kids. The instructors are incredible and do well making things easy for the youngest/novice learners to understand. My 4 year old son has been attending for about a year and I have noticed an improvement in his ability to follow multi-step directions , ,and a slightly longer attention span. He really loves going to karate and there has never been a time where he refuses to go.

Our son has been with David Fuller Karate since he turned 3 as a little ninja. He just moved up to kids martial arts. He absolutely loves the program and instructors. Trickery and Listening Skills

I know it is tough being a parent (one myself) and trying to get kids to listen. They say they are…..but are they really?

How do we get kids to become better listeners here at our David Fuller Karate and Dynamite Kids After School & Summer Camp Programs? Well, one of our tools is using “Trickery” to get them to really listen to all of the details. When we do drills where the kids are kicking or punching, we will tell the kids to do the exercise when the instructor says GO……and only GO. Then we will throw in tricky words like gummy bears, goose, goldfish, and so many more. The students will sometimes make a mistake but will also learn to totally focus in and listen to exactly what the instructor says. They will also start listening to the details. You could use this at home/school by giving the kids something to do and see if they can wait until you say “GO” and then use a tricky word and see what happens. It keeps it fun and when kids are having fun, they learn the most because they lower their defensive walls and want to have fun.

You can even turn it into a little competition and give them 2 things to do in order and see if they can complete it correctly. Then keep adding things to see how well they can listen to the details, and follow them.

We teach Karate (Tang Soo Do) to kids as young as 3yrs old all the way up to adults. Each program is based on age and personal development. It is set up so a 3yr old is not in with a 6yr old. We also don’t expect toddlers (3-5yrs) to do the same things that the older kids and teens & adults do.
